Mila Vase - Ivory
This hand built sculptural and functional vase is hand burnished to create a soft shine to the vessel and a smooth finish. The heavily grogged, cream coloured clay body has been left unglazed to exhibit the natural texture of the clay. Inside, the hand coiled piece is glazed clear making it watertight and perfect for a simple floral arrangement, or as a stand alone ceramic artwork in any space. This simple abstract piece took shape with a nod to artist and sculptor Jean Arp, one of the founders of Dadaism. The soft oval shape and angular points often mean this work is said to look akin to an anatomical heart.
