O Vase - Stone
Designed to be a functional yet sculptural vase. Organic form was the inspiration behind this works composition, with functionality that suits its simple and unique design. The intent is to be able to display flowers or act as a stand alone sculpture. It is comprised with a heavily grogged clay which has been texturised by hand and sealed to finish. The process of carving back into each vessel reveals a raw finish and natural texture, which then gets sealed over to expose a multi-toned ivory and cream finish to the body of the vase.
Each vessel is handmade and one of a kind, and although all of the pieces reflect the same overall style, they each have a slightly unique O shape inside of the vase, highlighting the individuality and uniqueness of organic shapes and natural textures. Multiple O shapes can be found across the vessel.
